Beyond the potential for great prose, there is little elegance in an email. It’s digital, static, and impersonal. But handwritten letters, preferably done with a fountain pen, good ink and on quality paper…now we’re approaching a form of artfulness. Even better if you seal the envelope with some melted wax and a letter press. Receiving a handwritten letter from a girlfriend, often sprayed with perfume, was such a delight in my university years. You can’t put perfume on an email. Thanks for a delightful article!
