Carolyn- Thank you for your thoughtful comments. Yes, people don’t want to feel powerless. I also feel that, more than money, people crave FREEDOM. Freedom to pursue their passions. Freedom to spend time with loved ones. This longing for freedom is why some people walk away from six figure, high pressure jobs in order to buy back more TIME in their lives. This is one reason why I’m attracted to minimalism. Not that we should all start living a monastic life, but that perhaps we don’t need all the expensive things we think we need. I’d take a small condo and more free time over a luxury home but longer work hours any day.
