Great observations, Jonas. We've lost touch with the craftsmanship of the past. IKEA is the go to now. There's little to no connection with the furniture. Modernity has gifted us greater leisure time, where once we had to spend a great deal of our day with life chores. Laundry. Hunting food. Tending the garden. Mending things around our home. Yet the physical work kept us fit. Today we have to join gyms to stay fit. Old folks stayed on the farm, and helped raise the kids, rather than languish in rest homes, often forgotten. There was a simplicity to life in the past. Of course, before I romanticize it too much, modernity has brought us better health care, travel, and entertainment. Like everything, tradeoffs I suppose.
