Hi Artur- Yes, there are varying views. There are generalists who become successful, just as there are specialists who find success. I’m all for becoming a well-rounded person, but for many, they don’t have the money, time, or luxury to skill stack. They have to pick a discipline and develop rare and valuable skills to set themselves apart. Otherwise, they risk become dabblers with no deep skills. Even in Mr. Pueryo’s fascintating article, he ends with “ In what niche do I want to stand out? What combination of skills do I need to be unique in that niche?” He narrows things down to recommending a “niche” to stand out in. Being well-rounded certainly helps, but if I need heart surgery, I want a specialist, not a generalist. Thanks for reading!
