Karsten- You bring up an important point I should have covered in my article, which is how to meet new people when you have a disability. My sister is working toward a degree in ASL, and she meets with deaf people to practice her sign language skills. Even though she can hear, she communicates with them via sign, and has enjoyed meeting new people who happen to be deaf. Clearly, it’s harder for a deaf or hearing impaired person to spark up a conversation with others. I know there are some apps that can help, such as this one: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/app-myear/id1299527104

Hopefully, technology will offer new solutions that might make it easier for deaf or hearing impaired individuals to communicate more easily with others. Thanks for reading, and all the best to you!
