Sometimes bad years happen. Even when we try to do everything right, disaster can strike. An illness. Or a divorce. Maybe you lose your job or have a death in the family. Or another, unexpected bout of deep depression hits you. The path back to living again is different for everyone, but some things seem to be key:

  1. Your health. Walk, run, get outside, play sports, hit the gym. Even wen you don’t feel like it. Exercise can be as effective as anti-depressants.
  2. Family/friends. Never underestimate the power of loved ones to help you. Or good friends. Ask them for help when you need it.
  3. Passions. Whatever your hobby is, be it art, music, writing, coding, etc…do it whenever you can. When we immerse ourselves in something we love, our brains get to take a break and heal a little bit.
  4. Time. I know, it’s a cliche, but time does seem to heal (or make bearable) old wounds. “This too shall pass,” as they say. Or as Tom Hanks said on that deserted island in the movie Castaway, “You never know what the tide will bring tomorrow.”

Here are a few articles of mine that might help:

Wishing you success and happiness!
