Thanks for reading Frank, and for your comments. One of the stereotypes I’ve dealt with most of my police career is that cops are all linear, logical, macho, military types. Some are, but most that I knew and worked with were far more diverse.

I knew one tough looking cop that was a stage actor capable of very sensitive, poignant portrayals. My wife and I enjoyed attending his performances. Another cop I worked with was a poet. Several were musicians and photographers. Others were artists and writers.

I think television and movies amplify this macho stereotype of cops that doesn’t reflect the broad spectrum of multi-faceted law enforcement professionals that I had the pleasure to work with.
