I think the photo albums were the most devastating.
When Dad died years ago, my Mom inherited all his stuff, so I didn’t have to go spelunking through old boxes and buried ephemera. I unearthed the life insurance policies and important documents, but otherwise, everything else was carefully tucked away in the garage.
